Simply referred to as Scotch; this whisky is one of America’s all time favorites. From Blended to Single Malt, there’s much to explore. Having the basics down makes it all the more exciting! For starters it must be produced in Scotland from water and malted barley, to which only whole grains or other cereals may be added. From there it’s required to age for a minimum of 3 years. So which is right for you?
Single Malt – a Scotch made at a single distillery using water & malted barley.
Single Grain – take a Single Malt, add other grains or cereals.
Then there are variations of Blended Scotch:
Blended Malt – blend of 2 or more single malts from different distilleries
Blended Grain – you guessed it, similar to the above
Blended Scotch – a blend of 1 or more Single Malts with 1 or more single Grains
