Today while cooking Chicken Marsala we decided to search out cocktail recipes that employ this sweet Italian wine. Marsala is a fortified wine from Sicily that has a subtle sweetness and a distinctive raisin-prune like flavor. Searching the web we found a few less than interesting offerings until we came across the “Al Capone”, a cocktail created by Raffaele de Martinis at the Cavalieri Hilton in Rome. Mixing it up we’re quite pleased with the combination of flavors. It is a great option to the everyday Manhattan and a great way to use up that dusty bottle of Marsala that hides in your kitchen cabinet. Cheers!
