Summer is here and it is gin season. Today we offer you a refreshing summer “fizz” made with fresh Blackberry syrup. It is a perfect sipper for the sunny summer days ahead and if the kids are around you can use the Blackberry syrup (if there is any left-over) to make them Blackberry soda so they can mock-tail along with you. Cheers!
In a shaker glass filled with ice add:
- 1 ½ Ounces London Dry Gin
- 1 ½ Ounces Blackberry Syrup
- ½ Ounce Fresh Squeezed Lime Juice
Shake until painfully cold and strain over fresh ice into a large lowball glass. Splash with club soda. Garnish with fresh sweet basil leaves or skewered fresh blackberries.
In a medium saucepan add:
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup granulated white sugar
Bring to a boil then add:
- 1 cup fresh blackberries
Bring back to a boil, reduce heat and simmer for 20 minutes. Cool and strain syrup through a fine sieve into a sterling glass bottle. Syrup will keep in the refrigerator for 7 days.
