The Greenpoint

I am a Rye guy. I love the way that it offers a spicier character to cocktails than its more popular cousin Bourbon. So, today as we work our way through cocktails named after the Boroughs of New York, we bring you the Greenpoint. Now everyone knows the Manhattan and some know the Bronx and Brooklyn but from the talented crew at the legendary Milk & Honey we bring you the Greenpoint, named after the small Brooklyn neighborhood from which it came.  By any name it is a variation on the Manhattan with the addition of Yellow Chartreuse which provides a most pleasant herbal accent. It is a perfect cocktail for winter sipping and one that we have added to our repertoire of New York City inspired drinks. Cheers!

The Greenpoint

In a shaker glass filled with ice add:

  • 2 Ounces Rye Whiskey
  • ½ Ounce Sweet Vermouth
  • ½ Ounce Yellow Chartreuse (not green!)
  • 1 Dash Angostura Bitters
  • 1 Dash Orange Bitters

Gently stir to chilled ingredients without bruising the Rye. Strain into a chilled stemmed coupe. Garnish with a lemon twist.
