Today’s drink is an original from the Bottle Pro’s Cocktail Kitchen. We love delving into our spice cabinet to find new ideas and this week came across a bottle of Chinese Five Spice. This blend of cinnamon, clove, fennel, star anise, and Szechuan peppercorn has a wonderful aromatic nature. Infused it into simple syrup it is the foundation of our cocktail creation, “The Orient Occident”. Cheers!

Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer till reduced by 1/3. Cool syrup and strain through a fine sieve into a sterile bottle. Chinese Five Spiced Simple Syrup will keep for 7-10 days in the refrigerator.
Have some extra simple syrup? Try a bit in your morning coffee for a flavor lift.
