Coconut Cardamom Cooler

There is a heat wave on the way and when it comes to hot weather cocktails, we look for drinks that include something hydrating in their composition.  Today we offer you a refreshing combination of Brandy with Coconut Water and Cardamom for a favorite summer drink we call the Coconut Cardamom Cooler.

The Coconut Cardamom Cooler

In a shaker glass filled with ice add:

  • 1 ½ Ounces of Well-Bred Brandy or Cognac
  • ½ Ounce Cardamom Simple Syrup*
  • 3 Ounces of Coconut Water
  • 1 tsp Fresh Lime Juice

Shake like crazy, then strain over fresh cracked ice into a tall Highball glass.  Splash with Club Soda and lightly dust with fresh ground Nutmeg.

*Cardamom Simple Syrup

In a Saucepan Add:

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cups sugar
  • ¼ cup green cardamom pods

Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes.  Allow to cool them pour everything into a mason jar, seal and put in the refrigerator for at least 24 hours. Strain Cardamom Pods and store the syrup in the refrigerator for 7-10 days. Cardamom Simple Syrup is also good in coffee and makes a spicy exotic soda for the kids when mixed with club soda.
