This week we take you on a summer adventure with a great twist on the Mojito. Everyone loves the classic blend of Rum, Sugar and Lime with Mint, so why not embellish it a bit with fresh berries? Also mint and basil are in the same family and fresh basil offers a more herbaceous character to the cocktail when used in place of mint. This variation of the Mojito is simple to make, refreshing and offers a nice twist on the classic. Cheers!
Blackberry Basil Mojito
In a large Lowball glass add:
- 4-6 Fresh Blackberries
- 4-6 Fresh Basil Leaves
- ¼ to ½ Ounce Simple Syrup (to taste)
- The Juice of 1 Small Lime (1/2 if large, to taste)
- 2 Ounces of Bacardi Light Puerto Rican Rum
Muddle all to break down the berries and slightly bruise the Basil. Fill glass with crushed ice and top with a splash of club soda. Garnish with a bouquet of fresh basil leaves and a short straw.
