Black Heart Flip

Today we share with you the fusion of booze and beer. This is the creation of David Shenaut from the Raven and Rose in Portland Oregon. It employs a base of Chocolate stout, fortified with spirits and bolstered with the richness of fresh egg. We like this drink as an after dinner treat on a chilly night. Cheers!

Black Heart Flip

In A Shaker Glass Filled with Ice Add:

  • ¾ Ounce Cognac (Good Brandy will do in a Pinch)
  • ¾ 151-Proof Demerara Rum (we like Hamilton Overproof)
  • ½ Ounce Amaretto
  • 2 Teaspoons Rich Demerara Sugar Syrup (any simple syrup 2:1 ratio will do)
  • 1 Whole Egg (pasteurized if you prefer)

Shake and Strain into a Tulip Glass Over Fresh Ice

Top with 3 Ounces of Chocolate Stout (Shenaut uses Samuel Smith)

Garnish with a Heavy Dusting of Nutmeg
