In this day and age you always see people walking around with a cup of coffee. This gave us inspiration for today’s cocktail. While there are plenty of recipes for after dinner hot coffee drinks, you rarely see cocktails employing the use of iced coffee. The aromatic bitter character of coffee adds dimension to today’s cocktail, marrying beautifully to Bourbon in what we call, The Juan Valdez Old Fashioned.
The Juan Valdez Old Fashioned
In a Large Lowball Glass Add:
- 1 Sugar Cube Soaked with Two Dashes of Orange Bitters
- 1” slice of Orange Peel
- ½ Ounce Dark Crème de Cacao
Muddle To Break Down Sugar and Bruise Orange Peel
- 1 Ounce Strong Columbian Coffee or Espresso (Chilled)
- 1 ½ Ounces of Well-Bred Bourbon
Top with Cracked Ice and Stir Gently to Mix Ingredients. No Garnish Needed.
