Sweet Cardamom Laced Coffee with Brandy

Here is one to warm your soul.  We came across a recipe the other day for Coffee flavored with Cardamom. Turkish Coffee is sometimes brewed with Cardamom Pods infusing the aromatic characters of the spices directly into the coffee. We opted to make Cardamom Simple Syrup and add it as a sweetener after the fact.

Cardamom Simple Syrup

In a Small Saucepan Add

  • 1 Cup Sugar
  • 1¼ Cup Water
  • ¼ Cup Green Cardamom Pods

Bring to a Boil and Reduce Heat.  Simmer for 15 minutes and shut off.  Let Syrup Cool & Strain Cardamom Pods.  Store Syrup in the Refrigerator, it’llkeep about a week.

Sweet Cardamom Laced Coffee with Brandy

In Your Favorite Coffee Mug Add:

  • 1 Ounce Good Quality Brandy
  • 1 Cup of Strong Black Coffee
  • 1 Ounce +/- Cardamom Syrup to Taste
  • Float 1 Ounce of Heavy Cream On Top

The Cardamom Syrup adds an exotic spiciness and sweetness to the coffee.  By floating the cream on top you are forced to drink through the rich dairy, softening and rounding out the bitter edges.
