Here is an easy one that is so soothing. I remember my mother used to occasionally have Brandy and Milk in the evening before bed. It is a drink that is still offered at Brunches in New Orleans as a morning after fix. I came across a variation of the recipe I know today in “How to Mix Drinks” ~ The Bon Vivant’s Companion” by Jerry Thomas. It was published in 1862, so the drink has obviously been around for a while. His recipe is considerably stronger than the milk punch we know today so I offer you this contemporary version as follows:
Brandy Milk Punch
In a Shaker Glass Filled with Ice
- Pour 2 Ounces of Good Quality Brandy
- Add ½ Ounce of Simply Syrup
- Add 2 ounces of whole milk
Shake it like crazy until frothy. Pour into a rocks glass or tumbler. Liberally grate fresh nutmeg over the top. Relax!
