With Cinco de Mayo right around the corner here is a nice twist on the usual Margarita. It comes from a recipe found years ago in one cocktail book or another. The drink was tried and tested at the pool bar on Sanibel’s Casa Ybel resort to rave reviews. It is a nice twist on the Gold Margarita, using Drambuie (Scotch and Honey Liqueur) instead of Grand Marnier with the addition of Blue Curacao giving the drink a beautiful aquamarine color. The recipe is as follows:
In a Shaker Glass Filled with Ice Add
- 2 Ounces of Good Quality Gold Tequila
- ½ Ounce Drambuie
- ½ Ounce Blue Curacao
- 3 Ounces of Sweet & Sour Mix
Shake Till it Hurts. Serve on the rocks in your favorite glass . The Drambuie adds spiciness to the cocktail while the Blue Curacao lends a hint of orange and the lovely aqua color.
