Over the years many cocktails have been named for movie stars. In the 1920’s no star was brighter than America’s Sweetheart, Mary Pickford. Known as the Girl with the Curls, Pickford was the top actress of the times. Cocktail lore has it that the drink named in her honor was created in the 1920’s at the Hotel Nacional de Cuba in Havana when Pickford was there with her husband Douglas Fairbanks and in the company of Charlie Chaplin. It is a cocktail that has endured time and one that still translates to this generation’s tastes. It is as timeless as the starlet herself.
